Honor the men and women who flew and trained at Luke Field, Arizona, during World War II.
Honor Roll
Of the 13,568 cadets that graduated from Advanced Flying Training at Luke Field and earned their wings, the base placed 452 of them on its Honor Roll Memorial near the front gate. The timing of its creation is unknown, but only the men through Class 43-F were included. Without a doubt, the memorial was in place by the time Luke Field was reactivated as Luke Air Force Base in 1951. Those 452 men accounted for 2 Congressional Medals of Honor (CMoH), 8 Distinguished Service Crosses (DSC), 24 Silver Stars (SS), 2 Distinguished Service Medals (DSM) , 235 Distinguished Flying Crosses (DFC), 456 Air Medals (AM), 51 Purple Hearts (PH), and 2 Soldiers Medals (SM). Asterisks (*) represent for Oak Leak Clusters given after the first award. This page honors those men.

The classes at Luke Field were not the same size. The first class, 41-F, only held 42 cadets. During 1942, Luke Fields most productive year for Advanced Flying Training graduates, the average class held almost 400 cadets at 390. The following year, the average class was only five men smaller at 385. Obviously, larger classes would allow for more men to make the Honor Roll. However, timing, luck, and skill were major factors for those on the memorial.
