All 9,126 graduates from Luke Field during WWII were researched through at least 7 databases. Four of those databases were on U.S. Government websites. If there was anything found that occurred to them during WWII, the author further researched up to 17 databases and 3 search engines. As a result, 5,056 graduates were fully researched, 4,070 were not. Of those researched, 1,900 did not survive the war, or 20.9%. Most were killed in aircraft accidents. An additional 437 graduates were interned by a neutral nation or became a Prisoner of War, or 4.8%. Part of the challenge was many of the sources lacked complete data, including the National Archives enlistment database. Various fighter and bomber group associations had websites which greatly helped in the research.
